Since I have used this Bible passage as an example of how the Lord God has positively influenced my overeating, this doesn't necessarily reflect the whole meaning of the verse. Debbie

Aiming for the Light Amidst the Darkness of Temptations

1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Even though Christ has allowed me to loose over 80 pounds and to keep the vast majority of it off for over 30 years, I know that I am a sinful human being. I know that sometimes when I get overwhelmed, or I'm bored, or I'm being arrogant, I forget how subtly Satan works to real me in with temptations like food, self-righteousness, and worldly ways.

If I remember to stay focused on the Light of Jesus Christ, He will protect me and refocus me should I slip into those temptations. If I feel that I'm slipping into old behaviors, all I have to do is pray and ask Christ to take care of it and He does.

I can't tell you how many times that I've over done it at a buffet or I've eaten half of a bag of tortilla chips and want to eat the rest that I turn to the Light of Jesus and ask Him to save me from myself and He does every single time. He will do it for you too, if you turn to your Savior, the Light of the World in times of darkness of temptations.

Because these posts are examples of how I've applied these Bible verses to my life, they don't necessarily reflect the whole meaning of the Bible verse. Debbie
