So give Your servant a discerning heart to govern Your people, and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of Yours? 1 Kings 3:9 NIV Bible
I just ran across this very pertinent Bible Passage. Political things can become so overwhelming, they can drive you to eat! Since over 40 years ago, the Lord showed me how food had become a false god to me, because I was turning to food for comfort, instead of turning to the Lord God for comfort, I had to change some things! All these political decisions can sometimes push us to our limits!
Who is best? How shall I vote on particular issues? How do I know what they say is actually true? All of these are good questions, but aren't so easy to decide. If I get myself worked up about all of these, my resolve to turn my food, body, and eating over into the very capable hands of the Lord God, could go by the way-side!
Well, that would be counterproductive! Not only would I have to deal with all the stress of making the right decisions, but then I have the stress of dealing with the extra weight, from stuffing food down, instead of turning to the Lord with all that I'm dealing with. I can't tell you a distinctive answer of what to do. But what I do know, is if I turn to the Lord God when making important decisions like these, He will guide me throughout this. Now, turning it over to the Lord's hands, doesn't necessarily mean the people I favored, or the issues I wanted, go the way that I preferred. But the important thing to remember, is that asking for the Lord's guidance on these, will allow me to know that by praying for the Lord's guidance, He will be with me, no matter what the results are!
